Marbella extends promenade

4 April 2015

The extension of Marbella’s promenade towards the east is moving ahead swiftly, now entering the area of the dunes. At the same time that the council is working on joining La Bajadilla and Rio Real in four sections, a new project included in the plan of the town council for the Coastal Path is getting started. The project is in the area of Las Adelfas Dunes and Marbella’s town council, along with the Commonwealth, are working together.

The new path will connect the Palm Beach area with La Cabane, in Los Monteros, a stretch two and a half kilometers long. The project will include a major refurbishment of the sewer network. The public company Aguas Acosol will be in charge of the construction works.

Representatives from the three groups involved: town council, county administration and the association of towns of Costa del Sol traveled yesterday to the dunes of Las Adelfas to see first hand the previous construction in this area. The new construction will be presented at some point in the next three weeks, they said. Specifically the area, about one kilometer long, is being marked with wooden stakes and ropes, but the most labor intensive work will involve clearing the space that will become the pedestrian trail and that currently is occupied by greenery. Volunteers from Association Pro Dunas and the Provincial Government are in charge of removing invasive species and transplanting native plants that need to be protected.
