Renfe and Marbella sign new promotion agreement

Renfe, Spains state-owned passenger and freight train company, and Marbella’s Town Council have signed an agreement on Wednesday within the framework of the International Tourism Fair 2014, which is taking place in Madrid. This agreement will give discounts to passengers whose destination is conferences in the Marbella municipal area, inlcuding San Pedro and Puerto Banus.

This is one of the agreements reached during meetings between businesses and institutions in the sector and the town council’s mayor, Angeles Muñoz. These took place during the first day of the Fair.

Thus, this agreement signed by the town’s mayor and the president of the train’s company, Julio Gómez-Pomar, also includes a special program for passengers arriving to Marbella by bus transfer. The town will also get publicity in the AVE trains.

During the Fair’s first day, the new slogan for Marbella’s tourism brand has been introduced: “Marbella ahead”, which the town council hopes to show the “improvements transferred to date and our goal of further advancement”, said Muñoz.

In addition, the council has signed a collaboration agreement with Tui, focusing on the promotion of the city during the month of April, coinciding with the celebration of Easter in Marbella.

Also, the councilor has held meetings with the Director of Tourism of Dubai, Asma Mohammed, with the consul general of Oman, Al-Hamed Ibrahim Alabbas Harthi. Meetings were also held with Lebanese Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud, and his counterpart in Morocco Lahcen Haddad, a country with which an agreement has been reached to promote tourism from Morocco to Marbella.
